Psychic Force EX (サイキックフォースEX) is a 3D fighting game developed by Taito and originally released in 1996 for their Taito FX-1A arcade board. The game is a revision of Psychic Force released four months prior.
Overview[]
This is an upgraded revision of the original Psychic Force, which makes the formerly hidden character Keith Evans playable from the start without the need of fulfilling any conditions. Along with that, major adjustments have been made to improve the game balance, from the basic system to the performance of all characters. These changes would later make it into the game's PlayStation port.
Of particular note is the adjustment related to the Barrier Guard, which reduces the performance of the Psycho Gauge during deployment by 60% per second (twice the original), and the Psycho Gauge is additionally reduced even when the barrier prevents it. However, by inputting a command and consuming the gauge while being attacked, an "Avoidance Barrier" has been added that can avoid revenge by the normal technique-cancel super ability technique. On the other hand, the attack system has been greatly strengthened (normal guarding a single melee strong attack can now blow away the opponent, etc.), making it easier to attack the opponent and to manage the Psycho Gauge, adding a layer of strategy to the game.
